Custom switch commands

Wire a Smart Switch to a custom team-chat trigger word.

Every Smart Switch you pair to Rust Pulse can be given its own team-chat trigger and a custom message. This is how you wire up:

  • !base → flip your base lights.
  • !turrets → toggle the perimeter turrets.
  • !compound → close the auto-doors.
  • !horn → fire the alarm air-horn switch.

Configuration

From the dashboard:

  1. Open Devices for the relevant paired server.
  2. Click the Smart Switch you want to wire.
  3. Fill in:
    • Command — the trigger word without the ! (e.g. base).
    • On message — what the bot replies when the switch flips on (e.g. lights on).
    • Off message — what the bot replies when the switch flips off.
  4. Save.

The command takes effect immediately. The prefix matches the global ! (configurable in Settings).

Naming clashes

Custom commands take precedence over built-ins. Don't name one of yours help, cargo, etc., unless you want to overwrite that command's behaviour.

Per-switch permissions

Smart Switch commands are gated by Rust+ itself — only authorised players on the Smart Switch can flip it. The bot honours that, so a randomly-friended player joining your team can't toggle your base lights via team chat.
